We provided legal advice to GNAAS for many years and a full legal service to the charity to meet its needs including financing, intellectual property, real estate and employment.
The challenge
As a charity, GNAAS relies solely on donations from the public and each year, demand for its services increases. The charity must look to innovative ways to raise funds while also making sure that its facilities and vehicles are fit for purpose.
The solution
In 2019 we supported GNAAS as they began work on transforming its new base at Urlay Nook, Eaglescliffe, next to Teesside airport. This involved adapting a pre-existing office block to incorporate the centre of excellence’s training and research. A new hangar was also built to accommodate its aircraft.
In 2020 we advised GNAAS on the purchase of two state-of-the-art multi-million-pound Dauphin N3 and N3+ aircrafts.
The impact
The move to relocate staff from three of the charity’s former sites in Darlington, Aycliffe and Durham Tees Valley airport is expected to result in rent savings alone of £120,000 a year.
As well as accommodating our aircrew and charity staff, the new centre provides education and training for the growing number of medical professionals in the UK and overseas wishing to improve upon their own skills and knowledge. The revenue the training facility generates will be spent on improving the charity’s front-line care.
