£250million Invested in Teesside Waste Energy Facility

Sembcorp Industries will develop a new energy-from-waste facility in Teesside, capable of processing up to 450,000 tonnes of municipal waste per year. The £250million facility is a joint-venture between Sembcorp, SITA UK and Japan’s ITOCHU Corporation.

Ready in 2016

Waste will come from Merseyside by rail to be processed at Sembcorp’s Wilton International site.  Another facility will also be developed to manage the waste at Knowsley in Merseyside.  Both projects are expected to be working by 2016.

This project comes with a thirty year contract and builds upon the region’s renewable and energy production expertise.
