North East to test World’s largest wind turbine blade
The World’s largest wind turbine blade, part of GE’s Haliade-X 12MW turbine, is being tested at the Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) development site in Blyth.
A program of tests have been designed to simulate real world conditions and demonstrate performance and reliability. Tests will also take place to demonstrate the blade’s capability to withstand peak loads and several years of operation. GE Renewable Energy is investing £15m in the Haliade-X turbine testing.
