South Shields corrosion protection specialist expands
South Shields based Metec Cathodic Protection (UK), which was setup in 2016 to supply cathodic corrosion protection systems for the offshore energy sector is expecting turnover to increase to around £8m.
The business has recently completed work for Hornsea One and East Anglia offshore wind farms and also worked on an oil and gas installation for the Statoil Perrigrino project.
The firm are also to export cathodic protection for the North Sea Borssele Offshore Windfarm and will be working with Israeli oil and gas firm Energean on projects in the Mediterranean and Black Seas.
Currently the firm’s foundry output capacity is around 100 tonnes per week, increasing to 400 tonnes if you include capacity from its African operations. The business plans to further expand output capacity at their South Shields site in 2019 through the installation of a new bulk melting furnace.
