World first for North East energy experts

North Shields based offshore sector training group AIS has joined forces with simulator specialist Drilling Systems to form the 3T Energy Group, which is aiming to ‘transform’ the energy skills sector worldwide.

In a ‘first of its kind’ approach for the energy industry, technology such as simulators, e-learning, virtual reality, iPads and integrated software will be used alongside traditional training methods to enhance the skills, knowledge and performance of energy sector personnel.

The move has come about with the help of a major investment by private equity business Blue Water Energy, with North East law firm Muckle LLP advising on the deal. AIS founder and managing director Paul Stonebanks has become group president of the new business with Drilling Systems chief executive officer Ian Hudson the new group’s chief executive.
