We're delighted to have been awarded the "Maintaining Excellence" Better Health at Work Award (BHAW) for addressing health issues in the workplace and promoting healthy lifestyles to our people.

The awards, endorsed by Public Health England, seek to recognise employers’ efforts in combatting workplace health and wellbeing issues in the North East and Cumbria.

Since starting our BHAW journey in 2016 and achieving Bronze in 2017, we have seen our rankings climb to the second-highest accolade of “Maintaining Excellence”, demonstrating our ongoing commitment to providing a healthy workplace for all.

Consistent commitment to health and well-being

The Better Health at Work assessor commended the firm's efforts, saying: "Muckle has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to enhancing the health and well-being of its employees through various methods and activities."

These activities are tailored around five areas of wellbeing – physical, mental, social, financial and professional and included events such as an 'Ice Bath Challenge' to mark World Suicide Prevention Day and Unconscious Bias & Microagressions training, as well as long term initiatives to tackle burnout in the workplace.

Nicola Leyden, director of HR, said: “We’re incredibly proud to be one of just a handful of organisations in the North East to receive this award. Care is one of our core values, and our people have told us that the investment we make in their well-being and the community around us really matters.

"Our Wellbeing Strategy is to support our people to thrive both inside and outside of work by supporting the achievement of optimum well-being for all, and we are delighted to be recognised for this."
