Muckle supports construction group in purchasing industrial facility

Lawyers from our real estate and restructuring teams have advised CA (Evenwood) on a significant property acquisition.
CA (Evenwood), the property arm of North East construction company CA Group Limited, has purchased the industrial facility in County Durham to enable further expansion.
After falling into administration, the facility’s previous occupants had appointed Interpath to sell the space.
Industry leader
CA Group Limited was first established in 1983 and, in its over 40 years of operation, has built up a reputation as a leading designer, installer and manufacturer of building envelope components, including industrial roofing and cladding systems.
In more recent years, the Group has boasted healthy profits in an impressive bounce back from the pandemic. The Group now employs over 250 people in the North East.
The facility, in Shildon’s All Saints Industrial Estate, comprises over 44,000sqft of additional warehouse and office space, with adjacent land with significant redevelopment potential.
Neil Alderson, group managing director at CA Group, said: “This investment further cements CA Group’s long-term aspirations, and provides excellent opportunities for further improving operational performance and capacity. The acquisition helps provide even greater sustainability and stability and assists our ability to grow to meet ever-increasing demand for our products and services.”
Forging new relationships
Deborah Lazenby, real estate partner, was the lead adviser to CA (Evenwood), with support from Louis Hutton, trainee solicitor in our real estate team. Kelly Jordan, restructuring and insolvency partner, advised on the insolvency aspects of the transaction.
Muckle has also previously supported CA Group with business immigration and construction advice.
Deborah said: “It was a pleasure to work with Dan, Paul and Neil on this transaction. The acquisition reinforces CA Group’s commitment to both meeting the ever-growing client demand for its services and further enhancing its regional footprint.”
Dan Sherwen, finance manager at CA Group, said: “Deborah and her team were extremely professional throughout. Their dedication to detail and timely, succinct advice, as well as their exceptional collaboration with other advisers on the project, was much appreciated.”
