Muckle’s dealmakers celebrate multiple wins at Insider Dealmaker awards

It was a big night of celebrations for our corporate team as they were named Corporate Law Firm of the Year at this year’s Insider Dealmaker Awards 2024.  

Stephanie Brown secured her first (hopefully of many) Corporate Lawyer of the Year award. Our client deals were also recognised in two categories.

Corporate Lawyer of the Year

Stephanie’s work on some of the region’s most significant deals really impressed the judges, as well as her promotion to partner in April this year.

This included the sale of Sweetdreams to SugaRich (shortlisted in the Deal of the Year (sub £5m category).

Corporate Law Firm of the Year

We are delighted to be named Corporate Law Firm of the Year for the ninth time.

We’ve worked with so many innovative clients and business partners throughout the awards period, all of whom have shared our commitment to getting deals over the line.

Deal of the Year (sub £5m) - Acquisition of Dermatonics by SkinBioTherapeutics plc.

Skinbio is an AIM-listed high-tech life science company based in Newcastle focused on skin health.

In January of this year, Skinbio acquired the share capital of Cambridgeshire-based Dermatonics, a specialist in innovative dermatological products. 

Matthew Walsh, partner in our corporate team, led on the acquisition with support from solicitor Olivia Tindle.

Deal of the Year (£20m+) – Investment in iamproperty by Perwyn

iamproperty's team of more than 600 employees provides services to in excess of 6,000 estate agency branches across the UK.

The deal marks a successful exit for LDC’s North East office, having seen a 278 per cent increase in the enterprise value of the business during their investment period.

Anthony Evans, partner and head of our corporate team, led the legal advice to iamproperty with support from solicitor Ben Evans.
