Muckle advise Kitwave on £29m fresh produce acquisition
We are delighted to have advised Kitwave on its £29m acquisition of a specialist fresh produce wholesaler to the foodservice sector.
The deal sees WestCountry Food Holdings, a wholesaler of local, regional and imported fresh produce, join Kitwave’s existing foodservice division alongside H. B. Clark & Co (Successors) Ltd, David Miller Frozen Foods Ltd and M J Baker Foodservice Ltd.
The wholesaler enjoys supply links with local growers of seasonal fresh produce, as well as national and international fresh produce markets.
Kitwave chief executive Paul Young said: “The acquisition of WestCountry enables us to expand our product range to include high-quality fresh produce and complements our existing foodservice offering in the South West, following the acquisition of M J Baker earlier in 2022.
“We are delighted to welcome the WestCountry team to Kitwave and look forward to successfully integrating the business into the Group’s foodservice division, further expanding our nationwide reach.”
Anthony Evans, head of the corporate team, and Louise Duffy, head of banking, led the deal with support from Sara Worsick, Katharine Ronn and Melissa Henderson from the corporate team, Deborah Lazenby and Jessica Gray from the real estate team, Georgia Sproat and Kitija Martinsome from the banking team, Roland Fairlamb from the employment team and Alex Craig, head of commercial.
Anthony said: “It’s been great to advise Kitwave again on another significant addition to their foodservice division. Our congratulations to Paul, David and the team, it’s always a pleasure to work with them and fantastic to see the Group’s growth.”
