Muckle continues to attract talent with four new appointments
As businesses recover from a disruptive period of uncertainty and change, we continue to drive forward our growth plans by adding three lawyers and a paralegal to our team.
Consistently recognised as one of the best places to work, our established flexible working model and world-class approach to people development means we continue to attract the brightest and best from the UK.
Claire Renney joins the Employment Team
After qualifying in 2004, Claire practiced family law at a local North-East firm before moving to Newcastle City Council where she worked in both their Childcare and Employment teams.
Now part of our Employment team, Claire specialises in education, providing specialist safeguarding advice to schools, as well as handling legal issues relating to employment law.
Claire said: “Working as an in-house lawyer for a number of years, I was keen to get back a client-facing role and Muckle has such a strong reputation for being client-focused, so I knew this is where I wanted to be.”
Siobhain Corr joins the Corporate Team
Siobhain graduated from The University of Ulster with a degree in Law, she then completed her LPC at Northumbria University. Prior to joining Muckle in May 2021 Siobhain worked as a paralegal before training and qualifying at a law firm in Newcastle upon Tyne.
As part of the corporate team, Siobhain will advise on various transactions including management buyouts, acquisitions and disposals, asset sales and purchases, and company reorganisations.
Siobhain said: “I wanted to come and work at Muckle as I’d heard so many good things about the culture. As well as getting to work with some exciting clients and a fantastic team, I’m keen to get involved with some of the CSR initiatives that the company is so well known for.”
Joanna Garvey-Smith joins the Corporate Services Team
Previously educated at Oxford University, she is currently completing her law degree at Teesside University.
Joanna joins us as a Paralegal and will be helping growing businesses get the right legal structure in place to obtain maximum value.
Joanna said: “Muckle has a reputation as being different, I know people who work here, and they say it’s the best place they’ve ever worked at – and that’s been my experience so far. Staff retention speaks for itself. Most people seem to have been here 10-20 years so Muckle must be doing something right!”
Sarah Farish joins the Banking and Restructuring Team
Sarah graduated with First Class Honours from the MLaw Exempting degree at Northumbria University in 2016, going on to train and qualify at a local Newcastle firm.
Sarah is now part of our Banking and Restructuring team and supporting lenders and borrowers in finance and security arrangements and acting for insolvency practitioners, lenders, and directors on non-contentious and contentious insolvency matters.
Sarah said: “I’m looking forward to expanding my restructuring and insolvency knowledge and taking on a new challenge in the banking.”
Jason Wainwright, Managing Partner said: “We’re proud that we’re consistently recognised as one of the best places to work, and the fact that we continue to attract new talent to the business is testament to that.
“We’re delighted to have Claire, Siobhain, Joanna, and Sarah on board. They’ve already hit the ground running so I’m excited to see what they do in the future.
“And the Muckle growth journey doesn’t stop there. With seven new roles across commercial, construction, and real estate teams currently available we are excited about where this next year will take us.”
We’re currently recruiting for a Tech/Data lawyer, Contacts/Procurement lawyer, and a Charities lawyer to join our team.
