Muckle LLP helps Hays Travel acquire home working franchise Explorer Travel
Hays Travel, the UK’s largest independent travel firm, has snapped up homeworking franchise company Explorer Travel.
Members of our corporate and commercial teams, including Stephanie Brown, Philip Clare and Alison Walton have advised Hays on the acquisition. This will see 70 Explorer Travel franchisees become part of the Hays Travel Independence Group, building their business from their own home.
Exploring future growth
When Explorer Travel owner Steve Wood wanted to pursue interests outside the travel industry, he approached Hays Travel for an acquisition. And for Dame Irene Hays, owner of Hays Travel, the decision to take on Explorer Travel was an easy one.
Hays already employs over 350 colleagues in its homeworking division. Bringing the Explorer Travel’s franchisees onboard provides a bridge between the firm’s personal travel consultants, the homeworking Premier Telesales team and the Independence Group.
New opportunities for homeworkers
Dame Irene Hays, owner of Hays Travel said: “John and I always thought Explorer was a great business and I was delighted when Steve approached me once he decided to leave travel to do other things.
The Hays Travel team have already met with the Explorer Travel franchisees and are committed to helping them grow their business with plans to recruit more people. With many people looking for flexible homeworking opportunities interest is expected to be high. The move will also open up new opportunities for existing Hays Travel employees.
