Muckle's minted clothes swap in aid of local charities
It’s estimated that £140m worth of clothing and other products go to landfills in the UK every year, with less than a fifth of used clothing recycled. As part of our environmental calendar of events, we hosted our very first ‘Muckle Minted’ – where we swapped our unwanted items and raised money for three local charities in the process.
A donation to the West End Food Bank was the price of entry, and we raised £500 with all proceeds from the sales split between the North East Community Forest and Tees Valley Trees on Tees. All leftover items were donated to St Vincent’s clothing bank, and the firm donated £300 to the charity's Christmas appeal.
Social value in the North East and Cumbria
We've consistently placed a strong emphasis on social and environmental impact alongside profitability, and in January 2024, we became the first firm in the North East and Cumbria to be awarded a B Corporation® certificate (or B Corp™).
Through our Muckle Fund at the Community Foundation, as well as fundraising and other activities throughout the year, we support regional charities that focus on supporting young people, helping overcome disadvantages, and improving social mobility as well as environmental issues.
We provide legal services through NEPO's procurement solutions, which work with providers to ensure social value is at the heart of all professional service activities provided through the framework.
