Muckle puts best foot forward with Newcastle Foodbank for parkrun’s 20th anniversary
On Saturday 5 October, colleagues from across the firm took on various roles at Newcastle’s Town Moor parkrun.
To celebrate its 20th anniversary year, parkrun extended an open invitation for anyone to take part in their local parkrun event on 5 October.
This event coincided with the Newcastle West End Foodbank’s monthly appearance at the Town Moor parkrun.
We were keen to show our support to both – so what better way than to combine the two! Not only did some of our Muckle Runners take part in the run itself, other roles included marshalling and manning the Foodbank’s stand.
In it for the long run
Sport has such an important part to play in our communities, and parkrun is one of the first organisations that springs to mind when you talk about the sporting community.
parkrun started in in 2004 as the brainchild of Paul Sinton-Hewitt, who sought to get back into running with his friends whilst nursing an injury. 20 years on, parkrun has snowballed into “the largest health and wellbeing movement on the planet”, which remains free and inclusive to all.
parkrun organises free, weekly, 5k and 2k timed runs. It holds events in over 2,400 locations around the world and has more than 10 million registered parkrunners!
