Partner at Muckle LLP Elected President of Newcastle upon Tyne Law Society
Rob Langley, partner and head of the Construction and Engineering Team at leading commercial law firm Muckle LLP has been elected President of Newcastle upon Tyne Law Society for 2012/13.
The appointment recognises Rob’s national reputation as a solicitor in the region.
This prestigious position is held for a year, in one of the oldest law societies in the UK, The Newcastle upon Tyne Law Society held its first meeting in 1826. The organisation represents lawyers in the region, promotes the skill and expertise of the profession, and expresses local interests to Government and the national governing body. The Newcastle upon Tyne Law Society also organises annual legal lectures and other social events.
Of his election, Rob said: “It is a great honour to be elected by my peers to the role of President of the Newcastle upon Tyne Law Society. As well as representing the legal profession in the region, I will also be discussing the challenges facing the profession nationally and speaking to government on legislative issues. My colleagues at Muckle have been very supportive and I very much look forward to the year ahead.”

Rob’s expertise is in contentious construction and engineering law and he is a dual qualified barrister and lawyer. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and has more than 25 years' experience in advising businesses throughout the UK as well as abroad. He is also a Fellow of the Society of Advanced Legal Studies, which recognises his contribution to the practice of construction law.
