We’re delighted to have been shortlisted for both the People/Work Business (national) and Community Business (regional) in the 2025 Chamber Business Awards.

Retaining a diverse workforce

The People/Work Business (national) award recognises businesses demonstrating an unwavering commitment to recruiting and retaining a diverse workforce which drives strategic objectives forward. It focuses on diversity and inclusion being made a priority and shaping a company’s overall culture.

Here at Muckle, we’re dedicated to finding and retaining the best talent the North East and Cumbria has to offer. We provide various routes to a career in law, and support the continuous progression of our people by offering them the best training and development opportunities.

Last year, we were also shortlisted for the People/Work Business (national) award. However, this year, by focusing on continuously improving our ESG work and contribution to our community, we’re also proud to be shortlisted in the Community Business (regional) category.

Ramping up ESG efforts

At the core of our ethos is a deep-rooted belief in the importance of giving back. We’ve always been deeply embedded in our local community and understand the social and economic needs of the region.

As the first law firm to achieve BCorp accreditation in the North East and Cumbria, our strategy is to balance supporting causes that mean a lot to our people and strategically thinking about where our philanthropy can make a sustained impact in the North East.

Launching our first BCorp report allowed us to reflect on the impact we had in our community in 2024, from delivering 493 hours of pro bono work to supporting 30 charities with grants totalling £46,000. But it doesn’t stop there, we’re always looking to build on our efforts and continuously improve using accurate, measurable data.

The Community Business (regional) award acknowledges businesses going to extra mile to make a difference in their communities. As a law firm committed to contributing locally and continuous improvement in this area, we’re so happy to be shortlisted for this prestigious award.

The winners of both awards will be announced at the awards ceremony on 19 June at The Glasshouse International Centre for Music in Gateshead.
