Truck compensation – could you claim?
The European Commission recently issued a decision on a truck cartel involving DAF, Daimler, Iveco, MAN, Volvo/Renault and Scania. The decision means, if you own or leased one of these trucks, you could be entitled to thousands of pounds of compensation.
Can your business claim?
The group of manufacturers were fined €2.926 billion for fixing and aligning their truck prices and delaying the introduction of more fuel-efficient technologies between 1997 and 2011.
As a result, anyone who purchased or leased trucks of 6 tonnes or over in this period may be able to claim for compensation. It is estimated that the level of compensation could be in the region of £6,000 per truck with interest included on top of that. With the exception of Scania, the truck manufacturers admitted their involvement.
The decision and admissions are proof of the offending behaviour, so anyone who has suffered a loss as a result will be able to claim for compensation and potentially settle claims early.
