About Deborah
Listed by Legal 500 UK as a 'Next Generation Partner', Deborah is a real estate lawyer with extensive experience acting for large corporate bodies, funders, retail, education and charitable clients. She specialises in advising on large property portfolio management, secured lending, (acting for banks and borrowers) as well as a broad range of complex commercial real estate transactions.
With considerable experience acting for a wide range of clients in a cross-section of categories, Deborah works closely with our corporate team to advise and oversee the property aspects of corporate finance transactions. She acts for shareholders, investors, and corporate bodies in the real estate aspects of share and asset sales and acquisitions, as well as investments. Her wide-ranging experience means she can quickly identify potential issues and find practical, commercial solutions.
Deborah has significant experience in the retail sector, acting for both landlords, tenants and funders in acquisitions, disposals and refinances. She led the team who acted for Hays Travel Limited in its acquisition of 555 Thomas Cook stores.
Deborah has been a trustee of her local scout group for a number of years.

Deborah has acted for universities and colleges for over a 17 years, including NCG and the University of Sunderland. She has assisted with a variety of acquisitions and disposals of both freehold and leasehold land, property portfolio management, insolvent estate purchases and redevelopments, including the acquisition and development of the University of Sunderland’s new London campus headquarters in Canary Wharf. The sector brings a diverse range of issues Deborah is particularly skilled in finding commercial solutions to the client's needs while ensuring their expectations and governance responsibilities are met.
