About Chris
Recognised nationally by Legal 500 UK as a 'Next Generation Lawyer', Chris provides specialist advice on charity law, corporate structures, commercial contracts and public law to charities, social enterprises, educational institutions and sports clubs across the North East and the UK.
Chris’ specialisms include new charity formations, trustee duties, governance reviews, trading, corporate partnerships, fundraising, restructures and mergers, grants and contracts, and regulatory compliance. He also serves as a trustee of Teesside University Students’ Union.
Chris has practised in charity law ever since he qualified in 2010 and advises charities, social enterprises and philanthropists including Rape Crisis England and Wales and CSIS Charity Fund. His specialisms include new charity formations, trustee duties, governance reviews, trading, corporate partnerships, fundraising, restructures and mergers, grants and contracts, and regulatory compliance.
Chris is a member of the Charity Law Association and has been recognised by Legal 500 UK as a "dedicated charity specialist" who "cares about getting it right and goes the extra mile ".
Chris’s commitment to the charity sector doesn’t stop at the end of the working day. In his free time, Chris serves as a trustee of Teesside University Students’ Union.
Chris is passionate about the education sector and advises schools, colleges and universities across the North East including Aspire Multi-Academy Trust, Dame Allan’s Schools and South Tyneside College. He previously worked as an in-house commercial lawyer at Northumbria University.
